Understanding Sanatan Dharma

Today what are the religious practices we are following as Hindus?

On Deepawali we light candles, diwas, burst crackers. A few conduct puja of Mata Lakshmi and Shri Ganesha. Eat and distribute sweets. Exchange gifts and more or less that is it.

On Holi we smear colors on others and make merry. A day before Holika Dahan is done with a few rituals.

On Raksha Bandhan we tie rakhis and wish well to brothers and sisters.

On Dussehra we burn effigies of Ravan, Kumbhakaran and Meghnad and conduct Ramlilas preceding Dussehra.

In our homes we set up a Puja and pray fervently every day and seek boons from the Gods.

Then on a holiday we go for pilgrimages.

When we face problems in life we approach astrologers who might tell you the correct forecast of life but will have no clue about solutions to the problems.

And so on.

All this is very good and shows the eternal faith of Hindu population.

But ancient Hindu Scriptures are thousands in numbers.
